Dr. Robert Smith Jr. has served four decades in ministry. His list of accomplishments from his years in ministry include: Professor at Beeson Divinity School, serving as the Charles T. Carter Baptist Chair of Divinity during his tenure.
He previously served as the Carl E. Bates Associate Professor of Christian Preaching at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. While at Southern, He also received the Seminary’s 1996 Findley B. Edge Award for Teaching Excellence.
In 2017, Dr. Smith was named the E. K. Bailey Expository Preaching Conference Living Legend.
An ordained Baptist minister, he served as pastor of the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, for 20 years, where he earned his Ph.D. while serving as pastor.
