Who We
Are |
| We come from many walks of
life, but we are a close family. We are learning what it means
to be a multi-ethnic, multicultural church. New Lifers get
together each week to worship, pray, study, play, and serve God
in greater Indianapolis. Our weekend celebration is our
lifeblood. We worship God and study His Word, the Bible, in a
lively but relaxed atmosphere. We share "new life" together,
and we learn what it really means to be God's people.
|
| |
| NEW LIFE CHURCH is non
denominational. As a member of the
Willow Creek Association,
we reflect many of the priorities and practices of the Willow
Creek Community Church, South Barrington, Illinois (www.willowcreek.org). |
| |
| We believe that God has
called us to live out Matthew 28:18-20, The Great Commission, in
ways that are relevant to the community of Indianapolis, the
larger state of Indiana, the United States of America, and
ultimately the world. |
| |
| In the New
International Version of the Bible, Matthew 28:18-20 reads,
"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All
authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore
go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'" |
| |
| In the original Greek, the
words for "all nations" are panta ta
eqnh, pronounced PAHN-tah tah ETH-nay. Another way to
understand these verses is to hear the call of Jesus to reach
out to people of all ethnicities. As the crossroads of America,
Indianapolis is a multi-cultural and mult-ethnic tapestry woven
with threads from around the world. We believe that God has
developed at New Life a community that represents this wonderful
diversity of culture, even as we are united in one body under
the Lordship of Jesus Christ. |
| |
We are committed to
fostering unity in Jesus among God's children, healing the
wounds of separation, and growing together as we learn what it
means to be "neither Jew nor
Greek, slave nor free, male nor female,"
but united as "one in Christ Jesus."
(Galatians 3:28)
We do this by loving one another with the love of Christ in
small groups and intentional relationships, and through a
variety of worship experiences that draw on the diverse
backgrounds, talents, and experiences of our brothers and
sisters in Christ.
